We’re here!  After many months of product development, website design and all of the small but very important details that go into launching a new venture, Emergency ID is ready to hit the market – and we couldn’t be more excited!

If you haven’t heard of us yet (and chances are you haven’t, we are brand new after all), let us use this first  post as an opportunity to let you know who we are and why we are writing this blog.  Who are we?  We are a small group of people who have seen a gap in the medical ID market that needs to be addressed.  We have been in the medical identification business for almost twenty years and have taken that experience and lessons learned and are launching something brand new in the medical id marketplace. 

So what’s new?  What sets us apart from the others?  Well there are a few things:

First, we did some market research and found out that there are a lot of people out there who have medical ID bracelets but aren’t wearing them.  We had lots of conversations about this and it was quite common to hear “Yes, I have a medical ID bracelet, but it’s in my jewellery box – I don’t wear it anymore because it’s not very... attractive”.  What good is a Medical ID if it’s in your jewellery box or at the back of your underwear drawer?   To that end, we have made it one of our goals to develop very attractive (and still practical) medical ID bracelets and necklaces (oh, and we also designed wallet cards and key tags for those who aren’t big on jewellery).  If you don’t like it, you’re not going to wear it.  And wearing it is the whole point of helping protect yourself, so first things first – let’s get some good looking jewellery out there. 

Secondly, and also based on feedback people gave us, medical ID products tend to be overly expensive.  So, people weren’t wearing their medical ID bracelets because they were ugly or not buying them because they were too expensive.   This was the feedback we were getting, all the while hearing “I really should be wearing one” or “my sister/daughter/mother/father/son/aunt/uncle/friend/nephew/niece (you get the picture) should be wearing something like this”.  So we have set out to correct those two problems.  Make medical ID jewellery that’s attractive AND affordable.

Third, and maybe most importantly, what sets us apart in this marketplace is customer service.  We want to make the experience of buying a medical ID product extremely easy.  To that end, we do not charge any extra fees when you buy a product from us.  We will not charge you any extra fees for shipping, engraving, different types of clasps or never ending membership fees.  The price you see is the price you pay.    If you find a bracelet that you love on our website for $49.00, you won’t pay any extra fees (except for your taxes – we can’t help that!) – you won’t even pay for shipping.   Nothing is more irritating that finding something you want to buy for one price and seeing  that price doubled with fees, extra options and shipping by the time you get to the check-out.  We believe that being upfront and clear about pricing is a huge part of customer service – it’s not just being pleased with the final product.

That being said, we of course want you to be very, very happy with the product you receive.  And if something happens, and you’re not pleased with your product – we want to know so that we can make it right.   Our customers come first – we wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for you, so we want to make sure you are happy! 

Lastly, what sets us apart is that we try to source our materials in North America whenever possible.  That means many of our parts come from either the USA or Canada and everything is assembled by hand, in North America.   Keeping jobs at home is important to us, and we hope it is important to you too!
